Sometimes you get what you pay for. This is one of those cases. Knob Creek is the low-end bourbon produced by Jim Beam (who also makes Baker's and Booker's). Knob Creek is drinkable and fine as a mixer, but to drink it alone isn't particularly pleasant. It tastes like a watered-down Baker's, that hasn't had enough time to mellow out. There's a very sharp note on the end that hits you hard in the back of the throat.
